finally makes us a decent solution available Chromium, the varsione opensourse Google Chrome on Linux (xubuntu for me), who for months has been firmly on my operating system at home.
as usual need to edit / etc / apt / sources.list and add
http://ppa.launchpad deb. net / chromium-daily / ppa / ubuntu intrepid main
deb-src http://ppa.launchpad.net/chromium-daily/ppa/ubuntu intrepid never n
indicating the repository automatically updated on a daily basis of the packages needed to run the application.
do not have scientific measurements but the impression is that webkit + v8 is much lighter and faster than all the alternatives available, including complete updates:
http://ppa.launchpad.net/webkit-team/ppa/ubuntu jaunty main deb
http://ppa.launchpad.net/webkit-team/ppa/ubuntu jaunty main deb-src
deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/ubuntu-mozilla-daily/ppa/ubuntu jaunty main
similarly, these are the dev repository of webkit and mozilla.
your browser is not fully functional, the interface is not taken care of the equivalent windows (using gtk2 and themes seem to aliens) and certain functions are disabilittate, it is not possible to create such shortcut of the web as you can on other operating systems, in my opinion it is trivial compared to the limitations of exciting performance it is capable of this browser, one of the few programs that I envied the other OS.
